Band Instruments

Brass, Woodswind and Percussion

Students who are new to band instruments have the option of choosing flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, French horn, or percussion, depending on the availability of school-owned instruments.

Junior School Students in Grade 5 and 6 who are interested in learning a band instrument are placed into the Beginning Band, which rehearses in the morning before school. Enrollment is subject to instrument availability.

Students in Grades 7-12 with prior learning on a band instrument may be placed in the Intermediate Band or Advanced Band, depending on their skill level. Private lessons for band instruments are competitive and are given to students with prior learning, depending on available space. Students may also have the opportunity to perform in small ensembles such as woodwind quintets.
