Tom Alter launches latest book
Tom Alter '68 came to Woodstock on November 7th to launch his latest book, "The Longest Race", a tale of a young Rajpur boy who discovers in himself a passion for long distance running and realizes that the human spirit can triumph in the face of great odds.
In his speech to the crowd gathered at Woodstock's main gate, Alter explained his inspiration for the book and the role Woodstock played in that inspiration. Alter thanked his high school cricket coach, former staff Brij Lal, who has also been a lifelong friend. He introduced Mr. Lal to the crowd and presented a special signed copy of the book to him. He also thanked and presented a book to longtime friend Nand Kishore who was involved in local coaching and sports in the Mussoorie area. Alter also thanked long time friend and current Woodstock Physical Education Teacher Ajay Mark for taking the beautiful cover photo of the book. Ajay also received a special signed copy.
Following the speeches, Alter invited the audience to enjoy tea and samosas. Many in the crowd purchased copies of the book from a display, and Alter autographed the book for many other guests.
