Happy Thanksgiving!
I think that all of you friends of Woodstock would be interested to know - and will appreciate - a new way that Americans at Woodstock are celebrating Thanksgiving at Woodstock - by sharing it with the whole community. We have just had a traditional Thanksgiving lunch with all of the staff and students in the Quad Dining Room. The kitchen staff came through magnificently with the whole works: roast chicken, mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn, vegetables and of course apple pie and ice cream. The student and staff dining rooms were gaily decorated with vegetable and fruit baskets and real table clothes - thanks to Judy Crider's usual decorative flair and her helpers - Mrs. Chelvam, Mira Jain and Immu Uniyal, amongst others.. The happy voices and ambience of the dining room gave tribute to the fact that this was a much appreciated event which, hopefully, will become a new Woodstock tradition.
Special thanks go to Kathy Hamman in our department who acted on the thoughts shared by several of us that Thanksgiving is a time to share with the entire community this special season of thanksgiving - a universal concept not limited to any national group. I hope that it was the same for each one of you wherever you celebrated!
