Volunteering award for Li-Chu '59
Alumna Li-Chiang Chu '59 was recently awarded the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's Distinguished Service Award. The honor from the education support industry group CASE positively exposes her more than three decades of outstanding, behind-the-scenes service at Woodstock School. CASE. hosted the Awards Luncheon and Business Meeting which highlighted Chu's generous efforts. The annual summit also featured the service of fellow honorees from such institutions as California State University and Indiana University.
Woodstock Development Director Jane Cummings, who attended the July event along with Woodstock supporters Sue Tuner Hanifl '63 and Winterline executive Eleanor Nicholson, praised her long-standing relationship with the school. "It is not an overstatement to say that without the willing spirit, commitment of time, expertise in organizational matters, financial acumen, meticulous attention to detail and financial support of Li-Chiang Chu, the Woodstock School might not have been able to enjoy many of the successes that they have over the past several years," she said.
The Council posted the profile of each award winner on its website. "Chu is one of two recipients this year of the Ernest T. Stewart Award for Alumni Volunteer Involvement. This award is the highest honor CASE gives to an alumni volunteer. Chu attended Woodstock School for only one year but is one of its most involved volunteers, contributing more than $1 million and hundreds of volunteer hours. Chu served for six years as a member on the school's alumni organization in North America and has organized many fundraising campaigns. She also serves as the school's database administrator and travels at her expense at least once a year to the school, where she performs a variety of office tasks."
The entire Woodstock community joins in thanking and congratulating Li on this well-deserved recognition.
