Middle School music club performance

As a last hurrah for the semester, the Middle School presented a musical version of the story of Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar featuring, of course, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. The story from the book of Daniel tells of how Daniel, a exile from Judah in the realm of King Nebuchadnezzar, saved the lives of the king's wise men. ** who played the king did an excellent job of demanding the impossible of them, yelling at them that they should not only be able to interpret the dream, but say what the dream was, because he couldn't remember his own dream. The wise men could neither tell the dream nor interpret it and were due to be executed. Daniel, played by **, told the king that he could interpret it with God's help and not to kill his wise men. As a result, Daniel was placed in a high position in court and had his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego made administrators over Babylon.

The trouble came when the king made a 90 foot gold image of himself. He ordered that when music played, everyone should prostrate themselves in front of the statue. The chorus urged Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to comply but they refused because it would go against the laws of God. The king had them thrown into the furnace but a strange thing happened when they were in there. A fourth man joined them for some time and they were not burned or even singed. The king finally let them out and understood the power of their God who sent an angel into the furnace with them to guard them.

It was an entertaining, beautifully performed rendition of the story, well acted and nicely sung. Great job, Middle School!
