Thanksgiving at Woodstock

Fresh produce of fruits and vegetables along with dry goods were solicited from faculty and staff the week before the school celebrated Thanksgiving and then passed along to a good cause instead of being disposed of during the traditional North American celebration. The voluntarily donated items decorated the staff dining room on 22 November for the special lunch which took place that day at Woodstock. Not only did the produce and food provide a fresh, bright atmosphere for the tables and windows during the Thanksgiving lunch but also served its more noble humanitarian purpose well.

The goods were the next day donated to the Children's Home at Firs, Landour Cantonment, by the Chaplaincy Council. The orphanage houses 33 children throughout the year whose under-resourced parents are often unable to provide adequate care for them. On the 23rd, the Rs. 7,000 worth of food delivered to the home and was met with smiles and thanks from the children living there. Woodstock thanks all the generous staff who donated goods to the Thanksgiving celebration and made it possible to affect our friends in the community through this small gesture. Happy Thanksgiving!
