Donation for the CARE programme

Woodstock's Care and Restoration of the Environment (CARE) program received a planned donation in early September from the philanthropic arm of the financial services company E-Trade. Kate Potter, CARE's staff advisor who worked with E-Trade representative Jonathan Crick, said of the generous $1,600 contribution, "It's been great working with Mr. Crick and now planning with our involved students how to best use the money." Students within the program have already elected to utilize at least some of the resources to help a local orphanage called Barlowganj install a necessary water tank and filter on the premises which will afford the kids living there clean water.

Officials from E-Trade's 2007 Charity Committee contacted Chris Starr '81 in early May, inquiring about the CARE program after visiting Woodstock's alumni website, www.wsalumni.org. The program was nominated and chosen for giving by the E-Trade committee.

CARE is a voluntary social service and environmental awareness initiative on campus aimed at exposing students to area need. Whether it be in local schools or natural surroundings the group seeks to create solutions to these local issues. Woodstock thanks E-Trade for its generous donation.
