Quad library gets a facelift
While most of us were enjoying our summer breaks away from Woodstock, librarians Meenu Khan and Rahima Thomas were busy remaking the Quad School library.
Directly at the end of last school year, Meenu and Rahima packed all of the books, making sure that they stayed in order, and stowed them in the computer lab next door. Over the course of the next few weeks the library was repainted and had new curtains hung. When the two women returned on July 7, they spent several weeks moving shelves around, rearranging the computer stations and tables and setting up the library desk in a new location. Then the time-consuming task of replacing the books ensued. By the time the rest of the staff arrived, the Quad library was revitalized with a fresh, open and accessible feel to it.
When asked what motivated them to undertake this daunting task they said that the library had not been changed for many years and that it felt dingy and small. Their intent was to open up the space and make it a bright, engaging and interesting place for students to read and work. The new arrangement should also make it easier for staff to provide good supervision.
Kudos to these enterprising staff members who took the initiative and made this wonderful renovation happen.
