Intermediate girls are division champs
In an exciting interschool meet held at Wynberg Allen School on October 21st, Woodstock's Intermediate Girls accumulated the most points clinching the division championship title. One of their strongest competitors, Hannah Roche, took first in three contests, the 80 m hurdles, 100 m and 200 m. Others who contributed substantially to the title were Pema Sadutshang who took first in Shot Put and Christina Malik who took 2nd in two events, the 800 m and the 1500 m.
In other divisions, the Senior Girls had two athletes who were very strong, Sophia Rehmus took first in the 400 m, 800 m, and 1500 m. Sara Hanneman placed first in Javelin, setting a new record in the process. Others who performed well were Sareega Shetty and Vahini Mallipudi. Sareega placed first in shot put and Vahini took second in both long jump and high jump.
The Intermediate and Senior Girls relay teams also did well, placing second each in the 4X100.
Sub-Junior Girls had a couple of strong competitors. Tseki Lhamo took 1st in both the 800 and 1500 m. One of the youngest team members, Anastasija Provotorova claimed 2nd place in the 800 m. In Junior Girls, Sheena Jelaji, Kun Young Byun, Spreeha Thapa, and Sari Joute took 3rd place in the 1500 m, 100 m, high jump and shot put respectively.
Both Intermediate and Senior Boys faced stiff competition. In the Intermediate division, Eu Sung Eo and Jai Nalwa each competed in four events, Eu Sung taking 3rd in the 800 m and Jai taking 3rd in high jump.
Senior Boys' Vinay Gupta competed in five events taking 2nd place in the 1500 m and the high jump. Woodstock's Jagrato Roy took first place in the shot put and 3rd in discus.
Uddhav Mehra in the Junior Boys division took 1st and set a new record for shot put. In Sub-Junior Boys, Sumair Sapam placed third in shot put and Aman John took third in the 800 m.
Other schools competing in this meet were Wynberg Allen and Waverley Convent in the girls' divisions and in the boys' divisions there were St. George College and Wynberg Allen.
