Woodstock brings Thanksgiving cheer to CNI Girls' Hostel

Recently, the 'Thought of the Day' in the school's Daily Announcements was the following quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?" In the spirit of giving and helping others, the Woodstock community joined hands to celebrate the American Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26th by collecting food items for underprivileged girls at the CNI (Church of North India) Girls' Hostel in Dehradun.

Staff and students of the school donated food items such as fruits, potatoes, milk cartons, noodles, soups, and biscuits. Food was collected from all over the school, including packages from the Edgehill and Alter Ridge residences, Middle School, and individual staff and student donations.

The food was then taken down on Thanksgiving day to the girls' hostel, where the students had a little party and planned to save the rest of the goodies for their Christmas party. The hostel is celebrating its 150th anniversary at the end of this month and the offerings will also help them celebrate their joyous occasion.

Woodstock has had a liaison with the CNI Girls' Hostel for a while - Hima, an eight-grader at the hostel who had developed a tumour in her nose, had been supported through her surgery and medical care by the Woodstock community. Sanjaya Mark, the head of the Quad School, was happy to report that Hima had completely recovered from the tumour when the school paid her a visit in Dehradun on Thanksgiving.

Back home in Woodstock, staff and students were treated to a delicious Thanksgiving lunch.
