New staff at Woodstock
A total of 31 new staff members joined Woodstock this Fall semester. Once again, a host of new teachers, residence staff, and support staff gathered from different corners of the world to join Woodstock's small but influential Himalayan community.
After a hiatus of four years, Woodstock especially welcomes back former staff member Mrs. Noeline Mangalwadi, who had previously served the school for 22 years. David and Mary 'Cookie' Wiebe also returned to Woodstock after a decade away.
Staff from India, the USA, South Africa, Singapore, and the UK join Woodstock this semester, and they will spread out across several departments of the school, including Residence Staff, High School Administration, the Health Centre, ICT, Music, Art, Elementary School, English, Learning Assistance, Maths, PE, and Social Studies.
Many of the new staff members arrived over the weekend of 18th-19th July, and were welcomed by the HR office and current staff of the school. Within days, the new members of the Woodstock family experienced the world in this part of Mussoorie, including the unmatchable Himalayan surroundings, the lush greenery in the region, nature walks, drenched monsoon, and of course, the dreaded monkeys!
New staff orientation took place from the 20th-25th of July, and it was a week of introductions, where the new staff learned about the school's Residence and Academic situation, the technical support at Woodstock, the religious and philosophical worldview of the school, an introduction to India and its culture, and other tips about how to deal with life in Mussoorie.
Several new staff members took part in a half-day trek to Kaphlani, passing several famous landmarks on the way. The new staff also enjoyed a special dinner at the Tavern Restaurant during their orientation week.
