Employees' Day
From the Bairaji that serves us our meals and wake us up in the mornings, to the Chowkidaars that guard us and ensure our peaceful sleep every night, Woodstock's employees are the backbone of the school's structure. Following a yearly tradition, the hundreds of employees of the school were honoured during the 'Employees' Day' which was held on Wednesday, November 11th.
After lunch on Wednesday, the employees headed down to the Hanson Field for the Employees' Sports Day. The athletic festivities were opened by Principal David Laurenson and the competitions began. Like the students and the staff, the employees are also divided amongst three houses of Blue, Green, and Red. They took part in events such as 100, 200, and 400 meters dash, high jump, long jump, and shot put. A 'Marathon' was held at the end. The employees' children also ran, taking part in 50 and 100 meter competitions amongst their various age groups. There was also a 'Mothers/Wives' race at the end.
Head of the Physical Education department Mr. Ajay Mark held a presentation ceremony for the employees at the Alter Ridge Dining Hall afterwards, where the winning individuals and house were awarded. The marathon was won by Dinesh Chand, and the sportsmanship trophy was awarded to Bhattu. The Green house won the Sports Day.
While the employees took the day off, Woodstock students took up their responsibilities after lunch, including serving tea and dinner, and cleaning up around the school.
The eventful day ended with the broadcasting of a Hindi movie for the employees at the Quad Dining Hall.
