Football and Basketball Teams visit AES, New Delhi
The Woodstock Senior Girls' Football Team and the Senior Boys' Basketball Team went on a joint tour to the American Embassy School (AES) over the past weekend. AES hosted both the teams and each of the team's played several games while down in New Delhi.
The girls played Meri Piri Academy (lost 0-1), in a game where they had the better of the play and were unlucky to not score a goal. Their best performance came against an excellent AES-Varsity Team even though the match ended 2-4 against their favour. A tired Woodstock team lost 0-7 to a strong Jesus and Mary College (Delhi) team in their final game.
The boys had mixed success during their basketball matches. Missing out on team captain Kakivi Chishi and taking part in their first official matches of the season, the boys ended a four-game series with two wins and two losses. The first match was a loss to the Montfort School, which they followed by wins against Meri Piri Academy and the AES Junior Varsity team. They lost their final game against the AES Senior Team.
According to senior basketball coach Ajay Mark, the tour was a good learning experience for the athletes, as the basketball team was very young and featured several 9th graders. The basketball season in Woodstock will now continue in the next semester.
