Woodstock at the Inter-School Athletics Meet

Popularly dubbed as 'The Mussoorie Olympics', the 12th Inter-School Athletics Meet was hosted by the Wynberg-Allen School on Friday, October 16th. The four participating schools were Woodstock School, St. George's College, Waverley Convent, and Wynberg-Allen School. Students and supporters of all the four schools heartily cheered on the representing athletes in a day full of exciting track and field events.

Before the official opening of events, Woodstock's senior band performed the Indian National Anthem and other songs for the guests. Athletes of the four schools marched around the circumference of the field before the guest of honour, Mr. Padamvir Singh (Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie) declared the meet open. Mrs. Nina Singh was also a special guest at the event.

For boys and girls in the four divisions (Sub-Junior, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior), the events of the day included 80 and 100 metre Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Triple Jump, and the various races - 100 metres, 800 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, and the 4 * 100 metres Relay. Some events had been previously decided in the week leading up to the Sports Meet, including Javelin, Discus, and the 1500 metres race.

Students who won gold for Woodstock at the Meet were:

• Kritika Deb (Senior Girls Long Jump)
