Football at RIMC
The Boys' Football team continued to show rapid strides of improvement after another noteworthy performance at the 9th annual football tournament at the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. The tournament took place from September 5th - 9th, involving 16 different school teams, mostly from Uttarakhand and a few from other parts of the country.
The Woodstock team went undefeated in their group games, beating the Army School 2-0 on Friday, drawing against a reputedly tough Welham Boys' team 1-1 on Saturday, and beating the Indian Public School on Saturday in a 6-3 goal glut.
The team marched into the Quarter-Finals after winning their group, where they faced the Tibetan Nehru Memorial School. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, but the Woodstock team suffered heartbreak in the penalty shootout, going down 7-8 to their opponents.
"We were really the better team and should've beaten them in regulation time," said the boys' coach Tim Raby, "It is really tragic to go out in penalties after we fielded such a strong team."
The scoring leader for Woodstock in the tournament was Chang Yoon Lee with three goals. Tim Raby added that the secret behind Woodstock's exceptional performance was a united team effort in each game, amongst whom the standout performers included Yu Sung Eo, Kakivi Chishi, and Temjenmoa Jamir.
The boys' team is hoping to continue their good form by participating in more tournaments this season.
