Win Mumby Basketball
Welhams sweep the board at the 7th Tournament
Teams from eleven schools converged on Mussoorie last weekend for the Win Mumby All-India Basketball tournament. This annual event, now in its seventh year, provides excellent and hotly-contested competition for the participating teams. The games are played on Woodstock's open air courts, and the games played outside school hours attract enthusiastic and appreciative crowds.
Top school this year was Welham's, with both the boys and girls teams winning the finals. They also won the Most Valuable Player accolades - Dhariya Karwa for the Boys, and Ritika Kalka for the Girls. Wellhams Boys beat The Shri Ram School by 48-41 in the final; Wellhams Girls' overcame Modern School by 46-21. Woodstock boys were eliminated by Shri Ram in the semi-finals, while Woodstock girls this year failed to make it out of the league stage.
The schools participating this year, in addition to Woodstock and Welhams, were Modern School, Mount Carmel School, The Shri Ram School, Yadavinra Public School (boys and girls), Rashtriya Indian Military College and St. George's College (boys), and Hopetown Girls' School and Lawrence School (girls).
