Channel [v] film at Woodstock
Once or twice a year we receive requests from TV companies to film on the campus. This may be for an education special, or for a "good schools of India" programme - or perhaps just for a visit to an interesting place. Channel [v], part of Star TV, came on June2nd to film a segment for their regular August 15th "Freedom Express" programme, which celebrates Indian Independence. They wanted to talk to expatriates - staff and students - about their view of India. Of course, we can provide many of them, including some who could happily be interviewed in Hindi for this bi-lingual show.
Dale Seefeldt '64, in particular, left the interviewer speechless - we enjoyed watching her struggling to concentrate on her questions, and getting tongue-tied in her own Hindi! Dale has lived in India all of his life, and teaches Hindi at Woodstock. But students, too, were able to conduct part of their interview in Hindi, a nice demonstration of Woodstock's commitment to really being part of the country in which we are located. It was good to be able to participate in this way in India's celebration of its nationhood, and we look forward to seeing the results.
