WOSA tea
Among the many events which crowd the last weeks of school for the graduating class, the WOSA tea is the one which most definitely looks forward. It is a chance for the seniors to meet long-established members of the Woodstock Old Students Association, and to see the kind of company which they are joining. This year's WOSA tea, on 4th June, was very well attended, and was a particularly relaxed and enjoyable occasion. The seniors were responsive to the different contributions, and even joined in the singing of "Shadows" at the end of the tea!
Sharon Seto, departing Development Director and Secretary of WOSA-India, spoke first, with a gleeful lintroduction to WOSA - including the likelihood that some of the Class of 2006 would end up marrying a Woodstocker. Chris Starr, Alumni Coordinator, encouraged all the alumni present to introduce themselves, and to give one word that summed up their feelings. Such words as "belonging" received the most affirmation. David Jeffery, Principal, as a good teacher, had a visual aid - three cones newly fallen from the Lyre Tree. They symbolized for him the fruit of Woodstock going out from home into the world.
Finally, Bhavnesh Kumari, WOSA-India President, told the graduates that they would always have a network of friends throughout the world. She concluded by reading a few lines form Emily Dickenson:
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
Kavi Singh '47 then presented Sharon Seto with a silver plate as a thank you and an acknowledgement of all her work in building WOSA-India over the last eight years.
