Elementary students celebrate Running India with Mr. Reid

Running India

After 35 weeks, with an average of 75 km run each week, and more than 35 children participating, the challenge was completed. On Wednesday 17th May the young runners of the Elementary Running Club covered the final 82 km required to cover the distance from Mussoorie to the tip of India (Kanyakumari) - a staggering 2616km.

Each week the children ran between 2 and 5km into the Gharwal Hills, often setting themselves targets, in terms of speed and distance. These distances were then totaled and added to a grand total, with the view to covering the distance mentioned above.

The children have gained so much from the challenge, apart from the obviously physical benefits of speed and stamina. They have also learnt that to achieve lasting results, you must develop commitment, perseverance and determination. The children were all delighted to finish, but many were wondering what was next. "Can we run on to Sri Lanka?" commented Varun Kedia.
