Grade 5 and 6 retreat

On March 31st and April 1st the students in grades five and six stayed at the beautiful Torch Bearers accommodation in Rajpur for their Religious Education retreat. With a theme of "Salt and Light", the approximately sixty students were led by eight staff members in sessions regarding self-esteem, knowing yourself, and using your talents to help others and the greater community. The parable of the talents, Matthew 5:13 and 14 and Psalm 139 were used as inspiration for the various retreat sessions.

In between sessions students enjoyed the beautiful weather and setting by playing badminton, ping pong, and card games outside in addition to just hanging out with friends. A talent show was held Saturday night, where the fifth and sixth graders demonstrated numerous musical, theatrical, and dancing talents. Wonderful Indian and Chinese cuisine was provided by Torch Bearers, as well as hot cocoa and treats baked by staff members. A water fight was held Sunday morning before the students headed back to Woodstock, a fun way to cap off a spiritually refreshing weekend.
