Korean food at Mount Hermon

On Saturday, March 3rd, the 7A ESL English class met their teacher, Ms. Stoll, at the Woodstock Quad and walked up to Mount Hermon, Ms. Holly Hay (PE department) and Ms. Stoll's home. When they reached Mount Hermon it was time to start the feast of Korean food! The slight crisis of lack of dishes was solved by Mr. MacKenzie, a high school English teacher, as he brought utensils and paper cups. The students taught their teachers how to make beautiful Korean food such as Ju Mok Bop (rice balls with vegetables and seaweed), veg and non-veg Kim Chi Chige (spicey soup with cabbage, tuna, potatoes, and carrots) and Jong Jo Rim (meat with healthy sesame sauce).

The happy group also listened to Korean music as the students slaved away with the food and the teachers danced. Sang Won, 13, saved the soup with the addition of chili powder. The students were very hungry after their long, steep walk up and two hours spent preparing the food. After all the work, the food tasted terrific as the students sat down to eat. All of the food was gone by the end of the meal-Mr. MacKenzie even drank the end of the soup in one gulp before his face turned red and mouth burned from the chili. With happy, full stomachs the students then watched the Disney movie "Mulan" before heading back down to dorms.
