Back to school
After a gloriously sunny winter in Mussoorie, students entered their classrooms on hillside on a cloudy February 9th. After a full night of clapping thunder and bright lightning, everyone woke up to see the hillside covered by a blanket of thick wet snow. The desperately needed snow kept falling all day. As classes let out in the afternoon, slippery snowball fights ensued. The evening was spent in dorms hanging dripping wet mittens and socks out to dry. Welcome back to winter in Mussoorie.
This Spring 2009 term is filled with many exciting plans and events. Most eagerly anticipated is the completion of the construction of the Win Mumby Gymnasium. The work began last summer and we are hopeful that it will be largely completed by the end of this semester. The whole school, both students and staff, eagerly await the many features the new gym will offer- squash court, full-size indoor court, climbing wall and fitness room. The picture of the snowy quad shows the gym construction behind the music wing.
This spring, students of all ages can look forward to school events such as the Student Talent Show (March 14th), the Indian Music concert (April 24th), Drama Weekend (May 8-9) and Spring concerts (May 29-30). If you are in the area, please come and join any of these Woodstock events. For students in grades 8-12, the Woodstock Model United Nations will take place on the March 27 weekend. Woodstock will be hosting three outside schools to join for a MUN weekend of full of procedure, debate, consensus-building and the creation of resolutions.
As some of our senior students start to receive the acceptance letters from various Universities, images of graduation are in the air. Though the seniors must focus on their AP's and internal exams, the final spring term at Woodstock also includes many senior activities such as the WOSA Homecoming lunch, STAR weekend (Senior Transition and Adjustment Retreat) and other graduation events. This is not only a time for exam revision and Senior Symposium but also a time of excitement, nervousness and preparing to say goodbye. We wish our seniors the best of luck in staying focused on what they need to do during their final term.
