Final assemblies
Going Down Day is a long-standing tradition at Woodstock, with the year seeming to race towards a conclusion before people are quite ready for it. That conclusion is even more speedy now that the trip to Delhi is made by bus, rather than train (given the number of students it was becoming increasingly difficult to have a smooth journey by rail), so the final assemblies this year ran concurrently in the dining room (Elementary School), Media Centre (Middle School) and Parker Hall (High School).
Final assemblies are, of course, the time when awards are announced and presented, including the important announcement of the valedictorian (Indira Laothamatas, Thailand)and salutatorian (Tenzing Namste Lama, Nepal). They are also a time for students to say farewell to staff and fellow students who are leaving the school, and for thanks to be offered to the many staff - teaching and non-teaching - who give their spare time to help broaden the experience of students.
Soon after 9:30 a.m. the assemblies are finished, and students gather outside the Media Centre or in the Quad for a final farewell before the walk down to the buses at New Road. Safe journey!
