Learning Science from Middle Schoolers
Do we get less sensitive to smell with age? Do non-vegetarians really get sick more often than vegetarians? So many questions - so little time! But fear not - students of Grades 6-7 are here to help! Exploring several scientific phenomena in our daily lives through experiments and research, the students put up an amazing Science Fair at the Quad Dining Hall on Wednesday, March 17th.
Each group was asked a question, which they explored and then revealed the answers to other visiting students and staff of the school. Some of these questions included:
- Are younger people more sensitive to smell?
- How can you make a xylophone with pipes?
- Does a heated ball bounce higher than a cold ball?
- How does temperature affect magnets?
- Do veg people get sick more often than non-veg people?
- Which fruits and vegetables have an electron flow?
- Do different types of gum have an effect on the temperature in a person's mouth?
Everyone from Elementary kids to High-Schoolers and staff enjoyed this fair and came out with a lot of answers!
