Christophe acts as questionmaster in Parker Hall

Francophone Day

Monday, 22nd March was international Francophone day, and head of languages, Christophe Faucher, conceived the idea of a celebration at Woodstock. He addressed the High School at the morning assembly, encouraged everyone to converse in a non-native language at lunch (unfortunately, he sat at my table!), and conducted a quiz after school. Teams made up of French students from the various grades, with teachers from other departments, competed in what was (to me, as a solo competitor) a fiendishly difficult set of questions (largely set by Elsa Amy, the torturess from le Mans). As a long-time holidaymaker in France, I approached the quiz with a certain self-satisfaction and expectation, which vanished by about question 2. See how you do - download the PowerPoint and test yourself (no music or video clips, I'm afraid, but you'll get the idea).
