Flashdance comes to Woodstock

Staff showcase their talent

It was an enjoyable evening for Woodstock staff, but more for the students in the audience, when the Staff Talent Show was held on Saturday, March 27th. From hard rock anthems to Bollywood dances, it was a night to remember for everyone involved.

MC'd by Mr. Ben Lall and Mr. James Rice, the show was kick-started by a surprise 'Fashion Show', in which many staff members strutted across the Parker Hall stage in their finest traditional or fashionable outfits. There were solo song performances by Mr. Enosh Thomas, Mrs. Nicole Farley, and Mrs. Joey Burchell, and a few bands got together to sing or rock on with the students, including a Woodstock rendition of "Rasputin" by Ms. Popsie Ebenezer and her group, a Deep Purple cover by the staff band 'Dark Fantasy', and a Jay-Z rap/rock performance by the band 'Double Wai-Wai Cheese'.

The show-stoppers were the dance performances, ranging from a well choreographed dance by the Midlands Dorm Staff to a hilariously memorable rendition of the 'Flashdance' by several of the school's male staff members. There were a change in gear midway through the programme when Mr. Ray Husthwaite showcased his storytelling talent to the audience, and again when Mr. Tim Raby, Mrs. Angie Endo, and James Rice did a skit on Woodstock alumni.

As per tradition, the finale of the show was a long Bollywood dance performance, in which the maximum number of staff members participated to dance along to famous Bollywood tunes.
