The Grade 5 musical "Lighten up"

Music, dance, food, and fun at the Mela!

Woodstock students, staff, alumni, hillside guests, and friends got together for a fun-filled morning at the Annual Spring Sale, or the 'Mela' 2010 on Saturday, May 15th. It was a bright, sunny day, which was enjoyed along with exotic food, games, painted faces, rock `n roll performances, traditional dances, handicrafts, books, clothes, and a musical that instructed us all to 'Lighten up' a little!

The Mela was the culmination of three days of the Arts Festival at the school, which featured western and Indian classical music, drama, and art.

After being declared open by Woodstock Principal Dr. David Laurenson and Rev. and Mrs. G Cornelius, the rest of the day was a carnival of food, arts, and crafts, and entertainment. Elementary school students presented a dance in the morning, which was followed by some rock performances by the staff band. Some of the High School Bhutanese & Tibetan students of the school also did a traditional dance.

There was enough for the visitors to be occupied with, from munching on delicious hotdogs or cooling down with ice-cream floats, to drifting into the Quad Dining Hall for the sale, which featured vendors from Mussoorie and beyond selling handicraft goods, clothing, jewellery, books, and photographs.

After a short break, the performances continued with senior student Swati Goel entertaining the audience with a song. Finally, the fifth grade class presented a musical 'Lighten Up' to charm the large audience in the afternoon.
