Woodstock's Commemorative Stamp

On June 2nd, the Woodstock School 150th anniversary Commemorative Stamp was released at a gathering in Parker Hall by Shri Vijay Bhushan, Secretary of Posts, in the presence of special guest His Excellency Shri Sudarshan Agarwal. The issuing of the stamp was largely due to sustained work by WOSA/India members, particularly Princess Bhuvenesh Kumari Patiala '50. In his speech, Shri Sudarshan Agarwal took note of the school's many distinguished alumni and the contribution they had made to India and the world. He also expressed his thanks to those who had founded institutions like Woodstock, stating that the heritage of Christian missionaries continues to be of value. Commending Woodstock's history and expressing gratitude for its mission, the governor observed, "It is a time to celebrate the magic of education." The ceremony was followed by music from the school's string players, a traditional Woodstock song performed by Middle School students, and a rousing Naga dance presented by Elementary students.

The school had opportunity to provide ideas and input for the stamp, but the final design was by the Post Office's artists. Pictured here are the stamp and the special First Day Cover.
