The school year begins in August and extends to June of the next year. The long holiday comes in winter, from mid-December to early February. The academic year is divided into quarters. Students are expected to return home for the summer and winter holidays and parents are encouraged, where possible, to visit Woodstock during the four-day quarter breaks in October and April. Academic reports are sent to parents following each quarter, and parent-teacher meetings are held on the first day of school following each quarter break.
The SAGE Program
The SAGE Program (Studies Abroad for Global Education) offers students from North America and elsewhere the opportunity to attend Woodstock for one or two semesters, usually in Grades 10 or 11. Click here to visit the SAGE website (opens in a new window).
Accreditation
Woodstock was the first school in Asia to receive US accreditation and is currently one of a number of international schools accredited by the US-based Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Our association with MSA began in 1959, when we were the first school in Asia to receive US accreditation. In 2007 Woodstock was the first school in Asia to be recognised with the MSA's International Credential, as a school with a genuinely global quality and style of education.
College Entry
Woodstock's US High School Diploma and range of Advanced Placement Examinations enables students to enter colleges and universities around the world.
North America
Entry into colleges and universities in North America can be obtained with a Woodstock High School diploma. Woodstock also prepares its Senior students for college and university entrance through the Advanced Placement (AP) examinations of the College Board, taken in Grade 12. AP's are US college-level courses that are recognized for college credit by many American institutions. They can also be used for University Entrance (or matriculation examinations) for UK, German and other European systems. Woodstock offers US SAT tests in Grades 11 and 12.
India
The Woodstock Indian Marksheet is based on the student's performance in five appropriate subjects taken consecutively in Grades 11 and 12. This Marksheet is recognized by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations as equivalent to a pass in the Indian School Certificate (Year 12) examination. Both the Woodstock diploma and Marksheet are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 stage in the Indian educational system. We recommend that students planning to take the competitive examinations required for medical and engineering entrance prepare for these tests following graduation from Woodstock.
Other Countries
Universities in Great Britain, Germany, Norway, Australia and New Zealand recognize grades achieved in the Advanced Placement tests as part of the criteria for admission. Woodstock also offers Cambridge (UK) IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations in Grade 10.
