MR. THOMAS CHANDY: President of the Board; Chair of Audit Committee; Member of Personnel Committee, Finance Committee, Governance & Nominations Committee. Thomas Chandy is currently the CEO of Save the Children, India. Prior to taking up that post, he was a senior executive with Coca Cola from 1995 to 2005. His career has also included positions at Satchi & Satchi and Parle International with increasing responsibility. He holds a post graduate degree in Management (1990) from the International Management Institute, Delhi with a specialization in business strategy and organizational behavior and an MSc in Chemistry (1983) from Madras Christian College.

SUMIT BASU '88: Sumit is a 1988 graduate of Woodstock and serves on the Board as a representative of WOSA-India. He is an attorney currently working for Siemens in Bombay. Sumit completed a BA in History from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and an MA in History from the Faculty of Arts, Delhi University. He obtained an LLB from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University

MR. AMAL CHAUDHURI '78: Amal Chaudhuri is President and Chief Operating Officer at SignaCert, Inc., a US software solutions company specialising in IT systems integrity. Mr. Chaudhuri is the former CIO of Citigroup and managing director of global systems and architecture at JP Morgan, and is widely regarded as a corporate IT visionary. While at Citigroup and JP Morgan, Mr. Chaudhuri was responsible for development and implementation of technology strategy, enterprise application development and infrastructure, and overseeing a large global organization. Mr. Chaudhuri holds advisory and board roles with a number of startups and their associated venture capital firms. He graduated from Vassar College in 1982 with a degree in biophysics and engineering.

DR. JACOB CHERIAN: Dr. Jacob Cherian holds a Ph.D in High Energy Physics from Jadavpur University. He is presently Associate Professor in Physics, St. Stephen's College, and Faculty Advisor to the Social Service League. He has previously served as Officiating Principal and Vice Principal at St. Stephen's. He was Colombo plan Lecturer to Bhutan under the aegis of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). He is Chief/Co-Chief Examiner in Physics for the ISC (Class XII) exam of the I.C.S.E Board.

DR. AMRITA DASS: Member of Student Life Committee, Education Committee and Student Recruitment Task Group. Dr. Dass is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Career Studies in Lucknow, India which promotes human resource development through career guidance and counseling programs as well as a broad spectrum of training courses. Dr. Dass holds an M.A in Western History and a PhD in History from Lucknow University and pursued doctoral studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London as a Fellow of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR).

MR. JEYAKUMAR DANIEL: Mr. Daniel is currently the Director of The Leprosy Mission in India, an international Christian NGO that focuses on assisting people affected by leprosy and working to eradicate this disease. He was at one time the Director of Accounts at Woodstock followed by participation on the Woodstock Board for many years. While on the board he acted as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He is an expert in Financial Management and an outstanding Administrator.

MR. ARVIND GHEI: After graduation from Woodstock School in 1974, Arvind completed his undergraduate studies at St. Stephens College, Delhi in Economics (Hon.) and went on to earn a post-graduate degree in Financial Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute in Bombay. During the last 22 years, he has been involved in hospitality finance and development with the Ambassador Group of Hotels, The Taj Group of Hotels and presently with the Mars chain of restaurants and hotels. He contributes to the Woodstock Board in the areas of finance and project development. His son graduated from Woodstock in 2004.

REV. T.Z. KUNDAN: Member of Personnel Committee and Education Committee Rev. Kundan is the Principal of the Moravian Institute and Pastor of the Moravian Church in Rajpur, India. The Institute runs a co-educational residential K-Grade 12 school for socially and financially deprived children from the Himalayan region as well as job creation programs. His two children have studied at Woodstock. He is a graduate of Cambridge University.

MR. ANSHUMAN MAGAZINE '83: Member of Buildings & Grounds Committee and Finance Committee A graduate of Woodstock in 1983, Mr. Magazine is Managing Director for South Asia of CB Richard Ellis, the world's largest Real Estate consulting firm, for the South Asia region. His association with the real estate industry began in the year 1994, with him being instrumental in setting up operations for CB Richard Ellis practice in the Indian subcontinent. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours from Delhi University, and a Master's in Business Administration from London, UK.

DR. PRAKASH MASIH: Chair of FInance Committee; Member of Personnel Committee; Member of Governance & Nominations Committee and Audit CommitteeNow retired, Prakash Masih was a Reader in Accountancy at Lucknow Christian College for 23 years and also served there as Honorary Treasurer. He now serves the college as Treasurer. He holds an MCom in Business Administration and a PhD in Financial Management. He is a former President of the Woodstock Board and is President of the Board of the Christian Retreat Centre in Rajpur, India.

DR. FRANK MAYADAS: Member of Student Life Committee and Education Committee. Ashok Frank Mayadas, PhD, was elected to the Woodstock School Distinguished Alumni Roll for his extraordinary leadership in the business sector and for his widely recognized work as Program Officer at the Sloan Foundation. His interests at the foundation are in the areas of learning outside the classroom (computer and electronic communications based education and training), career choice, and industry-related analysis. The foundation has provided over $55 million to nearly 100 academic institutions of higher education in the area of e-Learning.

MRS. PAULA MOWRY: Mrs. Paula Mowry is an educator by training and experience. She received her Bachelor of Science, Education, and her Master of Arts degrees both in South Dakota, USA. She has educational experience in American public and private schools, and Indian villageschools. After teaching at Kodaikanal International School, she was founding principal of Metro Delhi International School for five years. In 2007, the Mowrys formed a private limited education company, Dakota Education Services, whose vision includes providing effective educational programs for students of all ages, working alongside and empowering low resource Indian schools, and using communication resources for the uplifting of India.

MARK NOONAN: Mark Noonan is the Principal of Hebron School, Ooty. He has served as a Principal in Australia after a teaching career in mathematics.

BHAVENESH KUMARI PATIALA '50: Bhavenesh came to Woodstock in 1948, Bhavenesh attended Miranda House (Delhi University) where she decided on a career in law. She broke gender and social barriers with a law degree from Delhi, followed by another from Yale Law School. On her return to India, Bhavenesh became a partner in the largest law firm in New Delhi. Behavenesh was the first woman to practice in several countries of West Asia. Through all these years, Bhavenesh remained one of WOSA-India’s most active member. Her wisdom and skills have helped successive Woodstock administrations over a range of management and liaison needs, including the legal complexities of property rights vital to Woodstock’s sustainability.

DR. DAPHNE M. DE REBELLO: Dr. De Rebello holds a PhD from Stanford University in International Comparative Education. Before retiring, she had a long career in education serving from 1964 until 1993 with the Government of India where she held policy-making posts including Joint Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India (1988-93). Following that she worked for UNESCO from 1993 until 2003, ending with the post of Senior Progamme Specialist. Since her retirement, she has been a Senior Consultant in Education, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, and consults with UNESCO and UNFPA. In 2002 she was Included as one of the 100 distinguished women from or working in Andhra Pradesh who have contributed significantly to the development of the State and the cause of Women.

DAVID SCHOONMAKER ': David Schoonmaker, ’62 is the Executive Vice President, Founder and Board Member of Healthcare Waste Solutions, Inc, a leading medical waste management company in the US. As the oldest son of Joseph Schoonmaker, a missionary doctor in today’s Assam, David attended Woodstock from 1954 and graduated in 1962. He then went to the University of California at Berkeley where he received a BS in Chemistry and Business and followed it up with an MBA in Finance from California State College at Los Angeles. David currently is a board member of Friends of Woodstock School, Inc and has served as a board member of Kodai Woodstock International, Medical Waste Institute and American 3CI in the past. He is married to Eva and has two children.

REV. DAVID SCOTT '52: Chair of Development Advisory Committee; Member of Personnel Committee and Governance & Nominations Committee David Scott was born in Gujarat to missionary parents and attended Woodstock from Grade 1 to his graduation in1952. After studying at Union Seminary in New York he returned to India, where he has taught and lectured at various institutions, including Lucknow Christian College, the Rajpur Retreat Centre, Leonard Theological Seminary, Madhya Pradesh and United Theological Seminary, Bangalore. Now semi-retired, he serves as Adjunct Professor of World Religions at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC.

REV. ERIK TEMPLETON: Member of Education Committee and Student Life Committee Rev. Templeton is a minister of the Church of North India, based in Mussoorie. His wife, Rev. Mrs. Anita Templeton, is a former Board member.


Member Emeritus

MR. T.Z. CHU '52: T.Z. attended Woodstock throughout his high school years and graduated in 1952, winning the Best All-Around Student award. He majored in chemistry at University of California, Berkeley and earned his BSc followed by graduate studies in chemistry and business. For most of his career he worked in the scientific instruments industry where he pioneered several forms of analytical instruments and applications, and co-founded companies which remain leaders in the industry. His career spanned periods working in Asia, Europe and North America. He has served and continues to serve on the boards of public and private companies, trade associations, and non-profit organizations, including KWI, Woodstock School, Kodaikanal International School and UC Berkeley Foundation. He has been married to Irmgard Chu, a Swiss citizen, since 1963 and they have made their home in Northern California.
